Man City says Gabriel Jesus has broken a bone in his foot

MANCHESTER, England (AP) — Manchester City says striker Gabriel Jesus has broken a bone in his right foot and will undergo further examination to determine the length of his absence. Gabriel Jesus hobbled off in the 15th minute of City's 2-0 win at Bournemouth on Monday, having landed awkwardly while stretching for the ball minutes earlier.

The Brazil international was assessed on Tuesday and City said Gabriel Jesus has "suffered a fractured metatarsal." A lengthy lay-off would be a big blow to the title-chasing Premier League side, which moved into second place — eight points behind Chelsea — by beating Bournemouth.

Gabriel Jesus has made a stunning start to his City career, immediately displacing Sergio Aguero as the team's lone striker and scoring three goals in his first two Premier League starts.
