Consul General of USA to Nigeria Will Stevens Yesterday visited facilities of Nigeria’s Non Governmental Organisation-Heartland Alliance in Lagos

The Consular General of the US Government was impressed with the impact of HALG work on the vulnerable men, women, girls and adolescents and young persons with the support of USAID/Nigeria through PEPFAR. We have Improved quality of care for PLHIV, increased viral suppression rate of 98%, great partnership with government agencies to get health insurance for the vulnerable persons living with HIV, over 150,000 persons living with HIV (PLHIV) on lifesaving highly active anti retroviral therapy in 8 states (Yobe, Niger, Jigawa, Edo, Bayelsa, Lagos, Akwa Ibom and Cross river) in Nigeria, supporting a PCR Lab in Lagos, supporting over 100 government health facilities across tertiary, secondary and primary healthcare system in 3 states (Lagos, Bayelsa, Edo) with health system strengthening. We have a robust pediatric and PMTCT (Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission program) and the largest key populations program in Nigeria.
